Predator '87: Artwork + Game Design
This passion project reimagines the classic Milton Bradley board game Fireball Island with the sights, sounds, and adrenaline of the 1987 film Predator. Built on the Roll20 platform, it’s a fully functional online game that takes players on an immersive journey through pivotal scenes from the movie: from Jim Hopper's downed helicopter, to the rebel encampment, and finally, Dutch's jungle fortress. Animated set pieces replicate the same traps of the original Fireball Island but now feature Predator aliens destroying parts of the board. Redesigned playing cards showcase iconic moments and quotes from the film. The ashtray with a cigar frames a collection of playable mini-figures based on the film's characters, along with humorous additions like alternate Schwarzenegger roles from other films so users can play as The Terminator, Conan the Barbarian, or even Turboman from Jingle All the Way. Trophies are replaced by collectible VHS tapes, allowing players to build a library of Schwarzenegger classics as they navigate the board. And of course, the final escape to a rowboat in the original game is replaced with a race to “Get To The Choppa!”
